Names of collecting localities as used by the collectors and the currently used names followingThe place-names of Svalbard (Anonymous, 1942).
Notes:
1) Early collectors used Cap Lyell as locality name for the Tertiary Foldbelt outcrops on Calypsostranda at the west mouth of Recherchefjorden (southern shore of Bellsund), extending westwards and southeastwards from Renardodden. Renardodden is adopted here as a collective term for these Tertiary outcrops. Kapp Lyell proper has no Tertiary outcrops.

2) Nathorst's expedition 1898 collected at an unnamed locality in Van Keulens Bay which he later called Brogniarts berg.

3) Far east section of Festningen, not the present Kapp Starostin with which some of the early collectors' labels may be confused.

4) For this locality, which is identical to Kolfjellet, Nordenskiöld's expedition 1858 used "Bellsund"; only later (1865) was the name Van Mijenfjorden applied to this branch of Bellsund.
