My research interests include systematics, evolution and taxonomy of a diverse array of mushroom-forming fungi. I utilize morphological studies, DNA-sequencing and fungal culturing to undertake my research. I also sequence ancient type specimens to stabilize name interpretations. My research focuses now on reduced lineages of clavarioid fungi, a very poorly studied group of fungi, through a project funded by the Swedish Species Information Centre (Artdatabanken). I aim to phyogenetically place and resolve species and generic limits in Typhula, Macrotyphula, Ceratellopsis and Pterula. We have discovered more than 20 new species to science of those genera. In parallel, I hold collaborations with researchers from several countries targeting the genera Clavulina, Hydnum, Cantharellus and Inocybe, among others.
