Research in population genetics, phylogenetics and bioinformatics
I am interested in understanding how population level processes can ultimately induce macroevolutionary change. I therefore integrate both novel approaches to assay genetic variation and analytical methods that span the fields of population and phylogenetics. In my current work, I use genomic tools to study interspecific hybridization in Birds-of-Paradise to address the question: What are the evolutionary consequences of occasional gene flow long after incipient speciation?
I have previously worked on research projects that focused on the ecological context of continental radiations, species tree estimation in a summary-coalescent framework and the role of trait dependent dispersal in shaping biogeographic patterns.
