In the exhibition you can see skeletons of four large whale species: blue whale, gray whale, sperm whale and bowhead whale.
You will also encounter the polar bear hunting seals, the large elephant seals resting on the ice, and various penguin species. In the exhibition Polartrakterna we explain how animals live, hunt, and reproduce in some of the world’s most demanding environments. In the exhibition you can see how animals such as seals, whales and polar bears are adapted for life in both water and cold climates.
Enter the mouth of a Northern Right Whale. Baleens are located on the jaw. They are used when the whale filters the water to get food. Blue whales and other baleen whales do the same.
Feel a vertebra from a whale and get up close to a skeleton from a 20-meter-long blue whale calf.
Meet penguins, seals and others from the Antarctic animal world.

Are the animals in the exhibition real?
Yes, but the animals are not alive. They have been preserved by experts.
What is on the surface of the North‑Cape whale model?
The model is covered with sea pens, small crustaceans. When whales swim through the water, a flow of plankton and tiny organisms passes, which the sea pens can filter and eat.
