On this page you will find information on how to apply as well as conditions and criteria for borrowing material from the Environmental Specimen Bank (ESB).
Applications for loans of materials are processed five times a year. The applications are evaluated based on the set of criteria for borrowing materials from the ESB (given below). It is important to motivate the need to use material from the ESB in the project.
One month after each application deadline the applicant will receive the decision on whether or not the loan has been approved from the ESB. If the loan is granted, the applicant will within two weeks receive an estimated preliminary cost and information about when the samples are expected to be ready for delivery.
An agreement on the sample preparation and delivery will then be prepared. By signing this agreement the applicant undertake to meet the conditions regarding loans from ESB.

Samples can normally be delivered within 6 months after notification of the loan being granted. The delivery time also depends on the size of the loan and other demand for materials.
When a loan of material from the ESB has been approved, the applicant will be sent an invoice when the samples have been delivered according to the agreement.
The cost of samples from the ESB varies depending on the type of sample preparation required. We always make an individual assessment of the time required to handle the sample request. For price information, please contact miljoprovbanken@nrm.se
When an application for a loan from the ESB is sent to the museum, the Swedish Museum of Natural History saves personal data such as institution, name, telephone number and E-mail.
The purpose of saved personal data is to be able to communicate with applicants about their loan application, as well as to be able to follow up any future questions about the project. We also process personal data to fulfil the requirements of handling and archiving public documents. The legal basis for the processing of this personal data is to perform data of general interest.
Your personal data is stored for as long as required according to the legislation on public documents and government archives.
