Revision of the families Helicophidae and Calocidae, Biogeography of New Zealand and New Caledonia, Helicopsychidae systematics, Key to North European Trichoptera. Speciality: Trichoptera (particularly the Sericostomatoidea families Helicopsychidae,  Helicophidae and Calocidae).
