Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are automatically installed by a website on visitors' computers. Among other things, they make it possible to follow visitors' paths through the website and to trace their computer preferences.

There are two types of cookies. A session cookie is temporarily installed in a visitor's computer memory while it is connected to the website. They disappear from the memory when the website visit ends. A permanent cookie remains in the computer memory until it is purposely removed.

The museum website (www.nrm.se) uses session cookies for those functions (e.g. downloading documents) that require the visitor to log in, for identifying the visitor who logs in, and for verifying authentification. Cookies are also used for statistics from the site through Google Analytics. Visitors who do not need to log in do not need to activate the cookie functions of their web browsers.
