Pollen Service
The amount of pollen in the air increases during the flowering season. Numerous fungi produce and release spores into the air we breathe. Some of these pollen and spores cause allergy in an increasing part of the population with symptoms such as rhinitis and asthma. Daily during the pollen season each year, air is sampled and analyzed as to its pollen and spore content by scientists at the Palynological laboratory. The analyses result in pollen and spore reports and forecasts that reach the public through many different channels.
