The Research Division

Here you will find information about our Research Division and our research at the museum.

The Head of the Research Division has the main responsibility for the organisation and coordination of the research and for the research collections. The Director of Science has a staff of administrators and advisers, known as Research Division Directorate.

Biodiversity informatics

Contaminant Research
Monitoring of environmental contaminants. The Environmental Specimen Bank.

Cryptogamic Botany
Fungi, lichens, algae, bryophytes, etc.

Entomology
Insects, arachnids, myriapods

Invertebrate Zoology
Corals, different kinds of worms, gastropods, bivalves,  crustaceans, seastars, sea urchins, etc.

Laboratory for Isotope Geology
Isotope analysis of rocks, mineral, sediments, water and environmental samples. NORDSIM.

Laboratory of Molecular Systematics
Analyses of DNA.

Palaeobotany
Fossil plants

Palaeozoology
Fossil animals

Phanerogamic Botany
Seed plants. Palynological Laboratory (pollen analyses).

Vertebrate Zoology
Fish, amphimbians, mammals, reptiles, birds, etc. The Bird Ringing Centre (administration of bird ringing in Sweden) and the FishBase secretariat.
