Vanishing world

A trip to the top of our planet, to a world of ice and extreme conditions.

This Year´s Nature Photographer – Mireille de la Lez

Mireille de la Lez has many years of experience from intensive field work in theArcticas well as unique know-how on working with images of nature in the most extreme conditions. She works in insulation on the Arctic sea ice, often hundreds of kilometers from the closest settlement and the expeditions usually last several months.

Vanishing world

The exhibition takes us on a trip to the top of our planet, to a world of ice and extreme conditions. A magnificent, frozen environment comprising tones of ice-cold white and frozen blue. You will experience the polar night and see for yourself how the landscape shifts to purple and pink-red as the sun is rising.

The prerequisites for the existence of the Arctic balance on a very thin thread and all life there must be extremely-well adapted – this applies to both men and animals.

The exhibition contains recent photographs with an important message about the condition of our environment. It is a celebration of life in the most rigorous and unforgiving of worlds – the Arctic.

The exhibition is open until August 29, 2010.
