The annual report - Report on Swedish Bird Ringing

Annual reports
In 1960 the administration of Swedish bird ringing was centralised to one administrative centre at the Swedish Museum of Natural History and since this year each years ringing and recovery data have been summed up in an annual report.

The annual report Report on Swedish Bird Ringing is written in English and based on tables over ringed and recovered birds in one previous year. Most of the reports include a more detailed presentation of one species -  for example is the migration of Starlings presented in the latest report.

The annual report is printed in black and white and has a soft cover. It is aimed for bird ringers and everyone else with a special interest in bird ringing data. By necessity the report sums up ringing and recovery data with a time delay. This is due to the fact that ringing data and recoveries have to be reported to the Bird Ringing Centre before they can be summed up. Recoveries of ringed birds are sometimes reported a very long time after the recovery was made and the time delay is important for the recovery report to be reasonably complete. Starting with the report covering the year 2000, recoveries of birds ringed abroad but recovered in Sweden and reported to the Swedish Birds Ringing Centre are also included.

The annual report for 2007, Report on Swedish Bird Ringing for 2005, can be purchased by a payment of 120 SEK to the Swedish account Plusgirokonto 1 55 03 - 6, Swedish Museum of Natural History. For postage to abroad add 50 SEK and if you pay by cheque you have to add another 60 SEK for the bank charge.

No report was published in 2008 and annual reports will probably not be published in this way in the future.
