Research area
Livia´ s main interests are in the systematics and evolution of tropical flowering plants. Her research at the SwedishMuseum of Natural History encompasses molecular phylogenetics, biogeography as well as flower morphology and development of selected plant families such as Theophraceae and Apocynaceae belonging to the speciose and morphologically variable group of the Asterids. In addition, Livia investigates different aspects of the systematics of Gunnerales, Sabiaceae and Santalales in the framework of a project focussing on the evolution of pentamerous flowers in the Eudicots.
Projects
- Diversification in the IndomalesianRain Forest — ancient stability or recent dynamics? Evolution and systematics of waxplants (Hoya) and close relatives (Marsdenieae, Apocynaceae).
- Unravelling the transition from "Early diverging eudicots" to “Core eudicots" using flower characters.
- Ecological and evolutionary consequences of hybridization: cloud-forest Gunnera species in Costa Rica.
- Dating evolutionary lineages in the Gunneraceae.
