Responsibilities

Scanning and data processing of type material for the Latin American Plants Initiative.

Research interests:
My research interests include systematics, biogeography, ecology, and population dynamics of tropical plants with the ultimate goal of understanding the ecological and evolutionary patterns of their diversity. Some of my studies have concerned in the impact of intensive land-uses, such as habitat fragmentation, on tree species composition, diversity and forest structure. I am currently investigating the influence of habitat configuration on tree and liana communities, and the impact of vines on tree survivorship in forest fragments of southeastern Brazil.
My future research plans are investigate biotic and abiotic factors that promote and depress plant diversity and shape plant community composition on local, regional, and ultimately global scales.
