Area of research
Magnus works with fossilized microorganisms in association with hydrothermal systems. The main work comprise samples from the ocean crust, but also other hydrothermal environments like impact-induced systems or terrestrial systems. Old ocean crust, so called ophiolites, are also studied. The microorganisms that are studied has lived under extreme conditions such as high pressure and temperature, high and low pH-value, no sunlight and limited nutrient supply.
