Ecology of Crotalocrinites.Crinoids (sea lilies) feed by filtering organisms from sea water with their fan-like, branching arms. Crotalocrinites had the ossicles of its arms laterally fused into large, flexible, leaf-like structures, unlike those of any other crinoid. Recently discovered complete specimens give new insights into the ecology of this enigmatic Silurian genus.Projects
