Department of Palaeozoology

Palaeozoology is the study of animals through Earth's history – the palaeontology of animals.

Life on Earth can be traced back about 4 billion years, but the oldest indubitable fossils of animals are only a little more than half a billion years old. Research at the department spans topics from the early evolution of animals to the most recent history of predatory mammals.
