David Cantrill works on the history of Antarctic vegetation and in particular the role that Antarctica has played in developing present day patterns of plant distribution in the Southern Hemisphere. He has recently moved to the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne where he is the chief botanist and director of the National Herbarium of Victoria.
